The coloration of the wild Brown Trout varies according to coloration of the environment, chemistry of the water, size of the water and food they eat. Suspended deep water fish are bright and silvery. Small stream fish are the most colorful. Because of camouflage adaptability of the fish they have darker coloration and bright colors. In large bodies of water the fish's silvery body is camouflaged when other fish look up at it and the back of the fish are different colors to blend in when seen from above. When a fish moves into shallow water their color changes. This is why you can catch fish with different coloration in the same body of water.
